Cover & Jacket Design
We offer four different design options meant to fit just about any budget. All levels of service result in a professional looking final product.
STANDARD Cover Design - $250
This basic custom design package combines some do-it-yourself elements with limited designer contact. This is a particularly good choice if you have a definite idea of what cover image you are looking for and don't mind spending a little time researching it. Recommended for: C, S, P
Package includes:
- Up to 20 minutes telephone consultation with designer
- Email consultation with designer
- Up to two original custom cover concepts
- Choice of any cover image available on www.photos.com or Hi-res image can be supplied by customer
- Insert author photo supplied by author as digital file
- Up to two rounds of corrections
- Minimum correction charge after second round of corrections - $35
- Can be upgraded to Deluxe at any time
- Final PDF files for offset or digital printing*
DELUXE Cover Design- $475
This is the perfect combination of custom design and personal interaction with the designer. Unlike the standard design, most of the "heavy lifting" is done for you by the designer. Recommended for: S, P
Package includes:
- Up to one hour telephone or in-office consultation with designer
- Email consultation with designer
- Up to two original custom cover concepts
- Designer to research and select up to 7 images from our many online sources and present to you for final approval
- Up to one hour of Photoshop work
- Insert author photo supplied by author as digital file or scan photo original
- Up to five rounds of corrections
- Minimum correction charge after second round of corrections - $35
- Can be upgraded to Premium at any time
- Final PDF files for offset or digital printing*
PREMIUM Cover Design - $1195
This is designed for authors who know that they require the maximum amount of choices as well as maximum amount of personal contact with designer. This service is not meant for everyone and won't result in any noticeably different product than any of our other covers but if it's for you...you know who you are. Recommended for: S, P
Package includes:
- Up to two hours telephone or in-office consultation with designer
- Email consultation with designer
- Up to four original custom cover concepts
- Designer to research and select up to 20 images from our many online sources and present to you for final approval or work with author's illustrator to art direct cover illustration
- Up to three hours of Photoshop work
- Insert author photo supplied by author as digital file or scan photo original
- Corrections as needed
- Final PDF files for offset or digital printing*
DUST JACKET for hard cover book - $100
In addition to any of the above four cover design options:
Price includes:
- Creation of front and back flaps
- Adjust overall size to fit hardcover of same size as original paperback
- Create spine stamping artwork for offset printing
- Final PDF files for offset or digital printing*
COVER & DUST JACKET COMBO – $165
In addition to any of the above cover design options.
Many authors print their main run in the more economical perfect bound format and print a few, more expensive, hardcover copies POD (Print on Demand).
Price includes:
- Creation of front and back flaps
- Adjust overall size to fit hardcover of same size as original paperback
- Create spine stamping artwork for offset printing
- 2 final files good for printing as both a paperback cover and hardcover dust jacket. *
*NOTE: Our Design Service is offered exclusively to author/publishers who print books with RJ Communications. No print ready files will be sent to customer until after books are printed. Once books are printed, you can request a copy of the print ready PDF files, created by us for a small fee of $25. Complete application files are also available after books are printed for an additional $250. You can request a copy of your print ready files, prior to the first printing, for an additional $495.
